Our History

“Gvidi” comes from Esperanto, meaning “to guide.” Our name reflects our mission: to provide inspiring, multilingual, and personal experiences for international guests visiting Copenhagen and Denmark.

Gvidi was founded with a clear mission: to educate and empower guides who can inspire, engage, and connect with visitors in a meaningful way. By running our own training program, we ensure that every guide embodies our values of professionalism, local expertise, and genuine hospitality. This approach allows us to maintain the highest standards and guarantees that every guest enjoys an authentic and memorable experience.

Our decision to educate guides in-house comes from a simple belief: the best experiences are created by guides who are not only knowledgeable but also trained to bring personality, empathy, and flexibility to every interaction. This ensures that every tour or event is delivered with care, precision, and a personal touch that sets Gvidi apart.

Sustainability with care and commitment

Gvidi is proud to be Travelife Certified – an international sustainability certification for the travel industry, developed in alignment with the UN’sx Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The certification recognises our structured efforts to operate more responsibly across environmental, social and ethical dimensions.

Becoming certified isn’t a one-off achievement – it’s an ongoing commitment. We’ve documented our policies, reviewed our supply chain, trained our staff, and implemented practical measures to improve how we work. From emissions and energy use to labour rights and community impact, Travelife challenges us to reflect, take action, and continuously raise the bar.

For us, it’s not about ticking boxes – it’s about making thoughtful choices and being transparent about the journey. We know sustainability is a moving target, but we’re proud to be on the path – with purpose, care and an open mind.

Key Sustainability Results 2025

In 2025, Gvidi advanced its sustainability performance:

  • by introducing low-impact earphones for walking tours made from recycled and biomass materials, expanding cycling-based experiences, and promoting greener transfers such as metro-based airport transport.
  • Our Business Events team implemented sugarcane-based bio-plastic water bottles.
  • Gvidi delivered major CSR contributions—including 22 LEGO sportive cars and T-shirts donated to Ronald McDonald Houses (for hospitalized children)—and broadened its sustainable activity portfolio with offerings such as Green Kayak, Plogging, Gadens Stemmer (homeless tours), Red Cross collaborations, and Bybi (Urban bees)
  • The above combined with our commitment to local, responsible suppliers and annual community donations, Gvidi still provides clients with high-quality experiences that reflect their values and contribute positively to the destination.

Step by step – a thoughtful approach

Sustainability is complex. We don’t claim to have all the answers, but we take our role seriously. That means considering impact in the way we design, collaborate and deliver – and striving to make better choices wherever we can.

Our efforts focus on three areas:

Environmental awareness

Reducing footprint where possible

Responsible partnerships

Working transparently and ethically

People and wellbeing

Respecting rights and working conditions

Working together with shared responsibility

Gvidi collaborates with a wide network of suppliers and partners across the Nordics. We’ve outlined clear expectations for how we work together – because accountability doesn’t stop with us. It’s a shared effort to raise standards and build mutual trust.

We follow national health, safety and environmental laws across all the destinations we operate in – and we’re committed to continuously learning, adapting and improving.

To us, sustainability is a journey. We’re on the path – and we walk it with care, humility and curiosity.
